March 8-9 (Monday-Tuesday) Northlanders Jazz Band Concert 7:30pm at Kresge Recital Hall. Admission is free. The Northlanders Jazz Band with guest soloists/clinicians from the Jazz on the Upper Great Plains Festival. March 11 (Thursday) ST. BALDRICK'S EVENT 5:30pm at Shenanigan's Pub in the Empire Mall. Be a hero for kids with cancer by shaving your head in return for pledges. All proceeds benefit the St. Baldrick's Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising money for childhood cancer research. (www.stbaldricks.org) March 11-14 (Thursdy-Sunday) SIOUX FALLS SPORTSMEN'S SHOW at the Sioux Falls Convention Center. It's a boat show, a camping and RV show, a hunting and fishing show and a travel show. Plus, outdoor education with free hunting and fishing seminars and a live trout pond. This year features Twiggy, the waterskiing squirrel. Hours are 5-9pm Thursday, Noon-9pm Friday, 10am-9pm Saturday and 10am-6pm Sunday. ($7 adults, $2.50 for children 6-12 and children under 5 free) March 12 (Friday) BENEFIT FOR THE GARY AND DARLENE NIPP FAMILY 6pm to close at the Moose Lodge on West Burnside in Sioux Falls. Entertainment, silent auction and raffle and more. The Nipp's lost their home in a fire on February 3rd. ($5 single, $8 couple.) March 12 (Friday) BONERAMA 8:00pm at the Orpheum Theater in downtown Sioux Falls. The three-trombone frontline brass band plays vintage funk, classic rock and more. They played JazzFest in 2007. Two of the trombone players were also members of Harry Connick Jr.'s big band at one time. Tickets are $25 and $38. (sfjb.org) March 13 (Saturday) DOCTORS IN CONCERT A benefit for Children's Care Hospital and School 7:00pm at the Washington Pavilion. Local physicians display their musical talents. The concert features bluegrass, classical and Brazilian music. The show will also feature a ballroom dancing exhibition featuring several doctors and their spouses. There will also be a post-concert St. Patrick's Day party featuring Mike Connor and the Shamrockers, silent auction, cash raffle, refreshments and more. (Tickets to the concert are $17. Call 367-6000.) March 14 (Sunday) DAD'S BELGIAN WAFFLE BREAKFAST 8am-1pm at the Center for Active Generations. All-you-can-eat Belgian waffles, sausages and beverage. $6.50 in advance at the Center or $7 at the door. March 18 (Thursday) FESTIVAL OF GIVING 2-8pm in the Macy's wing of the Empire Mall. Visit over 55 non-profit agencies and community groups, and find out how you can get involved to make a difference in our community. There will be entertainment, raffles, prizes and more. (www.helplinecenter.org or dial 211.) March 19-21 (Friday-Sunday) Youth Basketball Tournament: Fighting Hunger and Feeding Hope at Augustana Elmen Center. March 20 (Saturday) HOPS AND GRAPES 7-10pm at the El Riad Shrine. Silent auction, hors d'oeuvres, cash bar, door prizes, music and more. A fundraiser sponsored by the El Riad Hospital Auxiliary with proceeds donated to support the Shriner's Hospital for Children-Twin Cities. Tickets are $25 and available by calling the Shrine Office at 336-1117. March 27 (Saturday) DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT A benefit for Hope Haven International Ministries. April 17 (Saturday) LUTHERAN SOCIAL SERVICES TASTE OF CULTURES 5:30-8:30pm at Faith Lutheran Church, 601 North Cliff. Enjoy ethnic entertainment, food and a silent auction. The money raised benefits refugee families to provide household goods and furnishings. April 18 (Sunday) 9th Annual Gourmet Guys 5-7:30pm at the Center For Active Generations. Forty prominent men from the Sioux Falls area, including sports figures, media personalities, doctors and business owners, will dish up their personal culinary wonders.
